History of the Houses

The charming Javanese teak wood houses are historic traditional homes built by native Indonesians over 100 years ago. They once served as bridal houses to a Javanese nobleman. When a wealthy Javanese man married, it was his duty to provide a home for his new bride. Hand picked by John Hardy, now they have been lovingly and carefully restored and made available to you, updated with comforts and elegant detail. All homes have traditional alang-alang grass roofs and shaded porches for private reveries.
